There was non stop action over the weekend with a feast of rugby league games.
Intercol Action (Thursday)
On Thursday, GC Foster College took care of business when they defeated the University of Technology 32-6 at GC Foster.
Omar Davis racked up 10 points to lead his team to voctory, scoring a try anbd 3 conversions. He was well supported by Dane Reid who scored a double. Marlando Anderson, Stephen Scott and Steohen Allen all scored trys for GC Foster as well. meanwhile, Francisco Francis scored the Utech Knight's sole try and Damon Gayle scored the conversion.
High School 9s (Friday)
Calabar showed good form throughout the day and in the process won their first tournament of the circuit. On the way, they knocked off Anchovy High from St. James who made their rugby league debut. Calbar also defeated Spanish Town and drew with Greater Portmore who finished second.
Club 9s (Saturday)
Eight teams took part in the senior 9s, Vauxhall Vultures and Duhaney Park Red Sharks are in the finals, bad light prevented play from being completed on the day. Pembroke Hall Rookies made their rugby league debut and topped their zone before falling to the Vultures in the semis. The Jamaica Defence Force returned to the sport after a year's absence and did very well, they were knocked out in the quarter finals by the Vultures. Spanish Town Vikings also made their rugby league debut and put in very creditable performances. GC Foster Lions was the sole university team invloved and they were knocked out by the Red Sharks in the quarters.
Intercol UWI 42 def. MICO 6
The University of the West Indies maintains their lead atop the standings after turning back Mico. Douglas Evelyn scored a double and he was joined on the scorers sheet by Chad Simeon, Ato Carrington, Alrick Brown, Jerome Ottey and Dwayne Taylor. Simeon slotted home 7 conversions.
Oshane Eddie continued his point scoring form by repling for Mico.
