GC Foster College put in a commanding performance to capture game two of the intercollegiate finals on Saturday at the Mona Bowl. The boys from St. Catherine managed to accomplish what no other team has done all season, notching a win against the University of the West Indies. Two tries from apiece from Aldaine Lumsden and Othniel Holness and one from Ramek Chambers secured the win for GC Foster; however, it was their strong and resolute defense that got them home. They were able to defend their end of the field very well and limited UWI to their lowest offensive output all year. For UWI, Nwadike Bacchus, Jermaine Smith and Donovan Jackson all got on the score sheet for the losing cause. The team was unable to produce the kind of dazzling ball handling skills that had seen them rack up over 200 points in the regular season and may have been frustrated by the stifling defense GC Foster produced. Game three is scheduled for the Mona Bowl on Saturday, April 2, at 1pm. UWI will be without two of their influential players, Ato Carrington and Alvin Brown who have both suffered leg injuries in Game one and two respectively, however, they head into the game as heavy favourites and will look to a complete team effort t finish the season on a high. For GC Foster, they will look to recreate the a high defensive energy to stifle the attacking prowess of UWI while looking to halves Omar Davis and Marlando Anderson to take them forward and score points.
